A Team Approach to Prevention

Our approach to family dentistry is a preventative one. By helping you maintain a healthy mouth and prevent oral disease before it happens, you can often avoid costly procedures in the future. Maintaining a regular schedule of seeing us here in the office is important, but if it’s been a while since you’ve visited us (or any dentist), don’t feel embarrassed to make your next appointment. While we emphasize the importance of a regular at-home care routine, we understand that life is busy and sometimes our obligations can make us forgetful or too tired to implement elaborate homecare routines. However, even small changes can often make a big difference. We work with you to find out what is currently realistic for you, what you find challenging, and together, we come up with a plan to make it easier for to keep your mouth healthy in between your checkups. It’s a team effort, and we’re on your team!

If you are suffering from chronic health issues, if you are concerned that you have a genetic predisposition to heart disease, Alzheimer’s, or other inflammatory diseases, or if you just have questions about how your oral health relates to your overall health, Dr. Astugue is happy to explore those areas with you and help you to look for connections. He is a member of the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health and understands how important the relationship is between the mouth and the body. Improving oral health can often improve your overall health. This is an exciting area of dentistry that continues to develop rapidly as research expands and treatments evolve.
