Dr. Astugue has both dentistry and New Orleans deep in his personal roots. From an early age, his parents, Sharon and Polete, instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion, and he felt so lucky to have the opportunity to see dentistry up close again and again. First his uncle, then his cousin, and his sister, Shelly, all became dentists. His next door neighbor was also his orthodontist, and around the corner lived his childhood dentist and professional mentor, Dr. Randy Green.

Dr. Astugue graduated from Christian Brothers School in 2002 and Jesuit High School in 2007. As a young student, he always enjoyed science and math, and thus pursued an interest in dentistry at Louisiana State University. Graduating from LSU in 2011, his journey continued at the LSU School of Dentistry. Naturally drawn to the esthetics of things, Dr. Astugue realized while in dental school that he especially loved the artistry of cosmetic dentistry. That passion persists as it is one of the central focuses of his meticulous practice today.

One of the most exciting parts of Dr. Astugue’s job is being able to restore confidence and comfort in his patients. These things can be life-changing. He also is interested in oral health’s connection to overall health and wellness, and he’s committed to staying apprised of the latest techniques and advancements in the dental and medical field by taking continuing education courses regularly, including Spear Education live and online courses and CDOCS Mentor events. Dr. Astugue recently had the honor to be part of a select group of dentists to attend a notable week-long live patient course on full mouth rehabilitation with Mike Malone DDS, renowned cosmetic dentist and former president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Additionally, each month, Dr. Astugue meets with a small group of dentists in New Orleans as part of a study club where they discuss complex dental cases and analyze the best approaches to treatment. This commitment to continuing education is part of his commitment to patients to provide them with the best dentistry in New Orleans.

Beyond dentistry, Dr. Astugue’s heart belongs to his wife, Lindsey, and their three beautiful daughters, Swayze, Annie, and Paisley. Along with his faith, they are the driving force behind everything he does. When he’s not busy cheering on his kids in their activities, he enjoys being involved with the St. Ann Church Knights of Columbus and is a member of the Knights of Babylon Carnival organization. Additionally, he spends much of his time away from the office at the golf course with his girls and is a lifelong, die-hard fan of the LSU Fighting Tigers.
